Kamloops at a Glance
Kamloops, in south central British
Columbia, is the only one of the four major cities (Kelowna
being the largest) in the Thompson-Okanagan
not located in the Okanagan Valley. Aboriginal for 'meeting of the waters', Kamloops
makes its home in the Thompson Valley at the confluence of the North and South
Thompson rivers. The city is characterized by hot, bright summers and mild, snow-filled
winters. During the warmer months, golfers invade for a chance to play at one
of the many championship courses such as Eagle
Point Golf Course, Rivershore
Golf Course and Sun
Rivers Golf Resort. Sun
Peaks and Silver
Star resorts guarantee that winter enthusiasts will be left out in the cold,
enjoying great skiing and snowboarding. If all this isn't reason enough to visit,
Kamloops has literally thousands of lakes, spectacular landscapes and endless
blue skies, making it worthy of top spot on any vacation wish list.
